What are the different types of claims?
Damages
Damage claims are one of the common types of claims filed by the shippers. If it is noted on the proof of delivery that a package is damaged, that package will qualify for damage claims.
Loss
In the shipping industry, a loss is when freight simply never makes it to the final destination. The absence of signed proof of delivery is enough proof for a loss claim.
Concealed Damages
Concealed damages are internal damages that are not recorded upon arrival. Since a concealed damage claim is less obvious than a visible one, it is also more difficult to prove that the carrier is at fault.
Shortage
Although a shortage is similar to a loss, there is one difference. A shortage occurs when some parts of the shipment reach its final destination while some parts do not.
